In 1991 the latest generation of the S-Class was presented at the Geneva Motor Show, the body design of which was based on the traditional style elements typical of Mercedes-Benz . As with the SL models of the 129 series, the radiator grille was reinterpreted in the new S-Class as a characteristic trademark while retaining the traditional basic shape. Just a few years later, in 1994, the S-Class sedans were presented with a subtle makeover, resulting in a visually lighter and more dynamic appearance. The formal revision of the rear end was also a key factor for the harmonious overall appearance of the S-Class. The lower radii of the trunk lid joints have been rounded off in the same way as on the coupé models. The 6.0-l V12 M 120 engine was also a completely new design and, with a rated output of 300 kW (408 hp), also went down in history as the most powerful Mercedes-Benz passenger car engine. In 1995, the revisions again concentrated primarily on technical details such as the 5-speed automatic transmission with torque converter lock-up clutch. The engines were also reworked to further reduce fuel consumption and pollutant emissions. By September 1998, 406,532 saloons of the 140 series were to roll off the assembly line. The miniature model made up of 120 individual parts, which was implemented with the greatest attention to detail according to the original CAD data, also follows this tradition. Manufactured on an international scale of 1:18, the hand-assembled precision model is painted in the authentic color and has all interior details faithfully reproduced. The interior and trunk floors are also flocked. Six parts of the model car can be opened (doors, bonnet and tailgate) and allow a look inside the car. The model comes in Mercedes-Benz Classic packaging with a glove and screwdriver. In this way, the precision model can be removed from the packaging without leaving fingerprints on the glazing or bodywork.
