The Corgi Major Toys 1127 Simon Snorkel Fire Engine is a classic die-cast model that captures the innovation of 1960s firefighting equipment. Introduced in September 1964, this model replicates the Bedford TK chassis equipped with a Simon Snorkel hydraulic platform—a cutting-edge apparatus at the time for aerial firefighting and rescue operations.

Working Boom Mechanism: The model features a two-section extendable boom operated by a pantograph system, ensuring the yellow rescue cage remains level during extension and retraction. Two thumb wheels control the boom's elevation, and the entire assembly rotates on a turntable for realistic maneuverability.

Detailed Crew: It includes six firefighter figures—two seated in the front cab, three in the rear facing backward, and one positioned in the rescue cage, ready to operate the water cannon. (Firefighter in Rescue Cage not included)

Stabilizing Legs: Four metal retractable stabilizers extend from the chassis to provide support during operation, mirroring the functionality of the actual fire engine

Packaging: Early versions came in a polystyrene tray with a lift-off lid featuring dynamic artwork of the fire engine in action. Later editions were packaged in window boxes for better retail display

Production and VariantsThe 1127 model was produced until 1976, with over one million units sold during its 12-year run. Variations include models with gold-colored boom joints and different wheel types, such as spun or cast wheels.

Legacy The 1127 Simon Snorkel Fire Engine stands as a testament to Corgi's commitment to producing detailed and functional die-cast models. Its realistic features and enduring appeal make it a cherished piece among vintage toy collectors.
