CONDITION DESCRIPTION:  Look closely at this RARE, 1962 Dinky Meccano Bentley S2 Convertible, Model #194 with the sleek grey paint, tan convertible top cover and the BRIGHT RED SEATS.  Look at the details; normally you can only find the ones for sale that are very well played with, BUT NOT THIS ONE!!  The paint is exceptional with only light scratches noticed on the trunk.  The interior is neat and clean. The windshield is clear and bright with only light scratches. The chrome plated bumpers and grill are also in very nice condition with only light dings noticed. The polished spun wheels still look new, and the tires do not show any cracks or flat spots. The baseplate is fairly scratched, (a very common occurrence with these very early Dinky models).

This RARE, 1962 Dinky Meccano Bentley S2 Convertible, Model #194, with the sleek grey paint, tan convertible top cover & BRIGHT RED SEATS, is just plain STUNNING! The first official version of this model was issued in early 1961 and had dark burgundy seats, it was a huge hit with the children of the day. Very few toy models had showed such detail as this one did and Dinky produced thousands the first year. In June of 1962, this RARE variation of the model with the BRIGHT RED seats is believed to have come about when the Dinky paint department incorrectly mixed a new batch of red paint. By the time they were aware of the mistake, several months had passed and Dinky decided to keep producing this bright red seat variation until the one-year mark, that way they could say it was all part of the plan and the mistake wouldn't look so obvious. Starting June of 1963, they did just that and retired the previous color scheme entirely to make way for a new and more exciting bronze metallic with the bright blue cover. This model was so popular that Dinky continued to produce hundreds of thousands more until finally retiring it in 1967.

This distinguished Bentley S2 Convertible is kind of boring by today’s standards but was all the rave back in 1961. This accurately designed model shows several fine details like a stylish and sweeping body finished in a glossy grey paint, realistic interior with detailed red seats and a wood grained dash, a smartly dressed driver behind a wraparound windshield, polished chrome plated bumpers, a chrome plated radiator and to top it off, a Bentley hood ornament!  Even today, this MADE IN ENGLAND GEM is VERY COLLECTABLE and still impresses collector’s worldwide with its elegant design and quality workmanship!!

*Please read the CONDITION DESCRIPTION and look closely at the detailed pictures.
