* For the 1968 F1, Cooper chose the BRM V12 engine which replaced the obsolete Maserati. The T86B followed the dictates of the T86, and during 1968 some aerodynamic developments were introduced. The BRM V12 engine lacked power. The season was not lucky, and the team lost Scarfiotti (killed in an accident in an uphill race aboard a Porsche), and Redman, who was stopped for a long time due to the accident in Belgium. Vic Elford and also Lucien Bianchi gave a valid contribution, flanked by Servoz-Gavin and Widdows: the best results came in Jarama and Monaco, with a third and a fifth place in each race. At the end of 1968 the name Cooper appeared for the last time in the roll of honor of a championship. There was still some history for the T86, which appeared at the 1969 Monaco GP with Elford, while another T86B was adapted for F.5000
** The 1968 season turned out to be a turning point in terms of safety, with four Grand Prix drivers being involved in fatal crashes: two-time World Champion Jim Clark, Mike Spence, Jo Schlesser and Ludovico Scarfiotti. It was the last year where all the races were run on tracks with almost no safety modifications.
