The boom in supercars has its roots with the Lamborghini Miura. In 1971, the Miura SV (Super Veloce, meaning very fast) was presented at the Geneva Motor Show. With performance to match its name, the SV featured a reinforced body for increased rigidity plus a new design rear suspension with tread widened by 130mm and wide 215/70VR15 tires inside dazzling fenders, to deliver radically improved cornering performance. Other enhancements include removal of the distinctive eyelashes around the headlamps and a newly designed front grille and rear combination lamps. By changing the cam profile and revising the carburetor, output from the 4ℓ V12 engine increased to 385㎰/40.7kg-m, up 15㎰/1.7kg-m from the P400S, while cooling was more efficient with the addition of an air intake for the radiator. Technological advancements such as the oil lubrication system that separated engine and transmission resolved issues such as heat loss and deterioration of shift feel. As the final model of the Miura, the PS400SV embodied the vision and objectives the development team had at the beginning of the design. Although production was discontinued in October 1973, the Miura legacy was inherited by the Countach.
