This is a Schuco 450053400 1:18 Scale Opel Diplomat A Coupe Diecast Model Car. Built between 1965 and 1967, the Opel Diplomat Coupe was Opel's crowning achievement of the mid-1960s. With a length of almost 5 meters and a 230 hp 5.4 liter V8 engine, it could easily give the top-of-the-range Mercedes-Benz models a run for their money. At its launch in 1965 it cost DM 25,500, placing it in the same price category as luxury vehicles like the Mercedes-Benz 280 Pagoden-SL or the Porsche 911. Unfortunately, the sales figures did not meet expectations and only 347 of these splendid vehicles were produced at the Karmann facility in Osnabruck before production was discontinued in July 1967.
