Due to its dimensions, the heavy 4-wheel tractor Kirovets K-700 takes a special position at every tractor meeting and, of course, in every tractor model collection.
Developed by the Russian manufacturer Kirovets from the end of the 1950s, the first prototype of the K-700 left the factory gate in Leningrad in July 1962. Between 1962 and 1975, significantly over 100,000 copies of the K-700 were produced.
Equipped with an 8-cylinder diesel engine, the 215 HP articulated handlebars were exported to the former DDR in not insignificant quantities from 1968. Known for its extreme reliability and very efficient especially on large agricultural areas, the use of a K-700 compared to the advance ZT 300 could increase work productivity by 3 times.
In order to be able to use a Kirovets K-700 economically sensible in the government agriculture of the GDR it was necessary to summarise individual fields into large areas. It was also calculated that a K-700 had to run at least 1400 working hours per year to be affordable.
