However, to be able to make the best, economical use of a Kirovets K-700 in the state-controlled agriculture of the GDR, separate fields had to be joined up to form large acreages. It was also calculated that a K-700 had to be worked for at least 1400 hours per year to be profitable. Since this was impossible with single-shift working, a two-shift system was introduced for agricultural production collectives equipped with the K-700.
